Well I have been Tagged

Well this is my first...I have been tagged by Nikki at  Bended Road Photography....So here goes....alittle about me......

1.  Where where you born?  I was born in Lumberton, North Carolina....My parents were living in a teeny, tiny town called Evergreen which was about 18 miles away.  Lots of people knew about Evergreen because it was on the main track to the North Carolina beaches....in fact I grew up about 45 minutes from Ocean Isle Beach....

2.  Were you  named after someone?  Yes, I was named after my dad's grandmother Nancy, and my dad, Thomas....My dad was in the hospital close to death with pneumonia so my mom chose to give me  his name..

3.  If you have children, how many?  I have two children...my daughter Leigh and my son, Clay
and three wonderful grandchildren who belong to Leigh and one on the way which is Clay's.  I also have two wonderful in love children...Leigh's husband, Roger and Clay's wife, Wendy...a cat child, Simon.

4.  How many pets do I have? Those of you who have been reading my blog for a while know I have one precious cat, Simon, that I love to pieces....He is 8 years old and brings me so much joy with all his antics.

5.  What was my worst injury?  I guess it would have to be my recent knee injury resulting in arthroscopic surgery....Last September we were at a college football game in Columbia SC...I decided to go to the bathroom before we headed into the stadium.  The sidewalk was uneven and I was in a hurry and I tripped and fell face down.  I busted my lip, my hands were scrapped up, and both my knees were scraped and bleeding but my right knee was the worse....I picked myself up and didn't think too much about it until about three weeks later I was having trouble walking....Went to the dr and she insinuated that it was arthritis but I knew better....Finally I was able to see an orthopedic specialist ended up having arthroscopic surgery and I am doing well....

6.  Do I have any special talents? Well that's debatable and depends on who you ask......I am creative and I love encouraging others.  I can do and have tried many art forms......I am insightful into other people...

7.  What is your favorite thing to bake?  I don't do much baking anymore as Sweet Fisherman isn't a big sweet eater....I really don't have a favorite but anything chocolate...Sorry that I am disappointing you with no receipt of a fabulous dessert.....

8.  What is your favorite fast food?  We try to avoid fast food but we are on the road so much that it's inevitable that we have to partake sometimes and usually it's Wendy's.....A chicken sandwich, salad and half and half tea....If we are really testy we will get a chocolate frosty.....

9.  Would I bungee jump?  ABSOLUTELY NOT.......I am too much of a chicken to take such a risk.....looks fun but not for me...

10.  What is the first thing you notice about people?  If I am close enough, it's definitely their eyes...I think eyes tell you so much about a person and next would be their mouth....You can sense a lot about a person's mood by their eyes and mouth.....

11.  When was the last time I cried?  Day before yesterday when we went to see the movie, Safe Haven....It really wasn't a tear jerker but a few scenes got to me...

12.  Any current worries?  My daughter Leigh being a surrogate for her brother....She is having blood pressure issues with this pregnancy that she did not have with her three and I am concerned about her...
With both of my children involved in this situation, I am concerned for all plus the baby.....Clay and Wendy have lost three live babies in the last year and I certainly don't want them to have to go through that again and at the same time I am concerned about Leigh....

13.  Name three drinks you drink regularly....Water, half and half tea, tomato juice

14.  What is your favorite book?  It has to be the Bible....I also love to read historical novels, books about knitting, spinning and photography.

15.  Would you like to be a pirate?  I guess I am not a risk taker enough to be a pirate....I like adventures but not ones with huge risks and lots of unknowns....

16.  What are your favorite smells?  A baby after a bath, freshly mowed grass,  a horse's mussel,
Simon's fur, a baby's breathe, the ocean breeze

17.  Why do I blog? It started as a place to share my thoughts and art "stuff" but it took on a life of it's own....I started meeting wonderful people and making friends.  Also, I started learning so much from all the gals I was meeting....Now I look forward to sharing what is going on in my life and my latest creations as well as hearing what's going on with my buddies....I am still meeting new people and that is so much fun....women who share some of the same interest and hobbies....you know like minded.....
I get so much encouragement so I really can't find a reason not to blog....it's been a great outlet for me...

18..What song do you want played at your funeral?  "I Know Whom I Have Believeth?  It's an old hymn and I have loved it ever since I was a child....It goes.. I know whom I have believeth and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I've committed  unto Him against that day... I love the tune as well...I can hardly stand still when we sing it at Church.....

19.  What is your least favorite thing about yourself?  It would have to be my weight.....I have always been slim until I hit my late 50's and it just went nuts....I know that now a big part of the program is that I love sweets and I have a hard time disciplining myself.  The past year and a half, I have had to deal with a broken ankle and a torn Mencius in my knee and that has really hampered my exercising so now that my knee is healing I am hoping to get back to walking and get some of this "fat" off me....

20.  What is your favorite hobby?  Well I have so many I don't know how to pick out just one....I love knitting, spinning, photography, art journaling, decorating....It seems I just make my rounds between them but I do knit about every day and I do take pictures about every day so I guess they are my two favorites.....and I love love processing my photographs.....It seems to have become an obsession....

21.  What do you look for in a friend?  They have to be trust worthy.....fun loving.

22.  Name Something you have done that you never thought you would do.... Paragliding.....We were on a business trip where several other close friends were attending as well and they all decided we would go paragliding....they all knew me very well and had even bet that I would not go...Well I showed them...I went and actually had fun.....

23.  What are your favorite things to do?  Walking hand in hand with my husband no matter where we are......playing with my grandchildren, A good Bible Study,  walking on the beach, riding around mountain roads with my sweet fisherman in his fishing truck, swinging, reading a good book,  Simon nuzzled behind my head, a good message and  biting into a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie...

24. Any Pet Peeves?  Someone getting in my face to talk, someone tailing me too close in the car,
Whining, Blaming,

25.  What is the last thing that made you laugh?  Simon surprising a squirrel.....Simon was standing at the window and the squirrel was on a branch right outside the window just having a jolly old time when Simon jumped at him and the squirrel went flying...almost feel off the limb...it was so funny....

The deal here was to share some random facts about myself. check
Now I am to tag some other bloggers* and pass it on:

1.  Deanna at  Snippets from Springdale

2.  Jill at She Who Carries Camera

I'll be back to beach pictures shortly..It's been an incredible day with sunshine and blue skies and lots of opportunities to record those memories....

Hugs,
Nancy

  2. Those are some very interesting tidbits! I hope all's well that end's well with your children. That is something to have your daughter herself to help her brother and SIL...very admirable!

I had a Yorkie named Simon. He was my heart dog...we lost him a little over a year ago when he was 14.

And, my exact sentiments about blogging! People who don't, just don't get it!

Thanks for tagging me, but I'm not sure I'll have the time. I'll see what I can do!

Also wish you well on your weight loss goals as it's something I struggle with as well. And, I agree with you that blogging is a wonderful outlet, but lately I have had to curtail my computer time.

I agree that the blogging community is such a wonderful place of support and encouragement. And I just have to ask: what is half and half tea?? :)

I have to be honest and say that I don't tend to participate in tag posts, but I really am flattered that you thought of me - thank you! I'm glad you won't take offense - it's just too much pressure when I have to think of answers to all these questions about myself. lol :)

    Have a wonderful Thursday, Nancy!

    1. Hi Sherri,
Thank for the sweet comments and I totally understand about not participating...I have never done this before but I thought I would give it a shot this time since we are away for a few days and I have more time...

What is half and half tea.....It is a glass of half sweet tea and half unsweetened tea...I guess it's a southern thing....hahahah
